2003 Jo Pithon Anjou ‘Les Bergeres’

Share

From his estate in the Loire Valley, Jo Pithon makes Chenin Blanc in a number of styles, from a dry and crisp Anjou blanc sec to his incredibly lush and aromatic Coteaux du Layon. The same grape that goes into the Loire’s seductive Savennieres, Chenin Blanc is a wonderfully versatile grape. The 2003 Anjou “Les Bergeres” weighs in on the crisp and minerally side, with a beautiful balance and texture, and notes of lime and honey in its perfume -- wonderful stuff that will make everybody at the table sit up and take notice.

It’s a terrific match with all sorts of Asian food, with raw shellfish, seared scallops and grilled fish.
