NEW YORK -- Runway ole! Ralph Lauren tapped into the feeling of exoticism that has swept through several of the collections here this week, showing his Latin American-themed spring-summer line on Thursday, the final day of New York Fashion Week.

The look: Luxe folk with Spanish and Latin American influences. Suede jackets and jodphurs with tooled leather details inspired by toreador costumes. Romantic poet blouses and crisp white broad cloth wrap shirts. Serape stripe shawls and slouchy hobo bags. Crochet sweaters and tank dresses. Rose print chiffon or lace cocktail gowns. Fan-shaped clutch bags and leather scroll sandals. Vivid colors of turquoise, tomato red and amethyst contrasted with white and black.

The scene: Civilized, as always. Jessica Alba, Olivia Wilde and Ryan Lochte breezed in, stopping to pose in front of the photographer’s pit. The Spanish-style ironwork lantern hung from the ceiling should have been a clue about what to expect.

The verdict: Very thematic, right down to the flat-topped bullfighter hats and toe-tapping music. But there were a lot of pretty pieces nonetheless, and some fabulous bags.
