Penelope Cruz, Monica Cruz debut L’Agent by Agent Provocateur line

Share

Actress Penélope Cruz and her sister Mónica Cruz have taken the wraps off the debut collection of L’Agent, the diffusion line of lingerie they co-designed for Agent Provocateur with that label’s creative director Sarah Shotton and which rolled out to retail today.

The advertising campaign for the fall-winter 2013 inaugural collection also happens to mark Penélope Cruz’s directorial debut -- a short film featuring her sister Monica, Miguel Angel Silvestre as a man with a very special pair of spectacles, and Irina Shayk as a nearly-nude descending a staircase.

“The campaign film was very personal and important for me,” she says in the collection’s press materials. “It was the first time that I directed, and it was a very interesting experience. They gave me all the freedom, and I was able to tell the story I wanted to tell.”

There’s another personal aspect to the collection too. The collection is organized into 15 ranges, each bearing a Spanish girl’s name and reflecting a different personality (the Garanimals of lacy undergarments, perhaps?) -- from playful Clementina to modern Alyce with the likes of naughty Lolitta, ultra-pretty Elsa and sophisticated Simona in between. Two of those will return season after season. You guessed it: the Penélope (a sleek, grown-up take on shapewear in a black-and-white color palette) and the Mónica (flirty, fun, all-over sheer lace pieces in hot pink with black satin bows).

The collection ranges in price from $30 for seamed fishnet stockings to $152 (a polka dot mesh bustier) and includes an assortment of lacy underthings ($33 to $46), bras ($66 to $82), bodysuits and half slips ($148). (By comparison, the namesake Agent Provocateur label retails in the $50 to $1,900 range.)

In the U.S., the debut L’Agent by Agent Provocateur lingerie collection is available at Bloomingdales (including at the Beverly Center) and Nordstrom (including at the Grove) department stores as well as online through Net-A-Porter.com.
