Moet & Chandon's Champagne vending machine: Bottles come with bling

So Beverly Hills has its Sprinkles cupcake ATM, really more like an automat, dispensing the luscious little cakes. And sure enough, people really do line up outside, especially at night, to order from a menu of dozens of cupcakes, even Doggie sugar-free cupcakes.

In Japan you can buy live lobsters, Uniqlo clothing and sneakers. Miami’s Mondrian hotel features a luxury vending machine called the “Semi-Automatic” that dispenses sunglasses, novels, 24K gold handcuffs, Rolex watches and evening gowns. There’s also one at the Hudson in New York.

And now for the Christmas season Champagne producer Moët & Chandon has gone them one better and installed a Champagne vending machine at Selfridges department store in London. (Selfridges was the subject of a recent PBS mini-series starring Entourage’s Jeremy Piven as Mr. Selfridge.)

If you’re picturing full-sized bottles, don’t. The Champagne is dispensed in adorable mini-bottles (200ml each) lined up like festive soldiers in the classy-looking rose-gold-colored vending machine. The $29 price is less adorable, considering each holds the equivalent of a glass of Champagne.

The Champagne is limited edition, produced just for Selfridges — and the label is embellished with Swarovski crystals. Now I get it: It’s all about bling.

One of these little babies would make quite the stocking stuffer, no?
