Plan Check to open downtown location Oct. 20; Yellowtail on Sunset opens Oct. 21

Plan Check Kitchen + Bar will open a new location in downtown L.A. on Oct. 20. The restaurant will feature chef Ernesto Uchimura’s unique burgers (think ketchup leather and house dashi cheese), pickles and French crullers. In addition to items from the menus at the Sawtelle and Fairfax locations, the downtown Plan Check will have a special K-BBQ Burger made with “kimcheese” (Gruyere cheese processed with wine and dried kimchi), gouchujang barbecue sauce, grilled pork belly, sesame salt, fried onions and sprouting onion. There will also be beef short rib pot roast with caramelized tomato, cauliflower puree, cheesy tots and flaked wasabi and a spicy tuna salad with Sriracha vinaigrette, avocado, puffed rice, sesame, black radish, yellow frisee, nori and garlic flowers. The new location will also have happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. to close with $2 off draft beer, $4 red or white house wine, $5 seasonal cocktails and more. Yellowtail Sunset Strip will open in the former Mirabelle space on Sunset Boulevard on Oct. 21. Chef Akira Back will serve a menu of Alaskan king crab tempura, big-eye tuna pizza, lobster carpaccio, Kobe beef tataki, yellowtail serrano and more. The 4,500-square-foot restaurant will feature an indoor-outdoor dining space with a golden entryway and deco floor tiles. A curved staircase will lead to a second dining room with an additional outdoor patio. The restaurant will be open daily from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. 8768 W.
