In the wake of Omar Sharif's death Friday at 83, celebrities mourned his passing with memories of his classic roles -- notably remembering his entrance in "Lawrence of Arabia."

However, some recalled the man behind those classic characters.

"A lovely gracious man! Always loved running into him! Gorgeous man!," said Morgan Fairchild, while Antonio Banderas called the Egyptian native "a great storyteller, a loyal friend and a wise spirit."

Larry King knew Sharif as a "dashing, bright, honest, classy, wonderful guy and a great bridge player!"

"Blessed that I was able to work with such a legend," said director Roland Emmerich, who had Sharif as narrator on "10,000 B.C."
