Eric Burdon of the Animals hopes to see a buyer at his Joshua Tree retreat

Eric Burdon, the 1960s British Invasion vocalist who sang with the Animals and later the funk band War, is looking for a fan for his Joshua Tree retreat.

Priced at $888,888, the gated Southwestern-style ranch house was built in 2007 and sits on 2.5 acres enclosed by an adobe wall. There are panoramic views of the mountains and high desert.

The 3,120-square-foot-plus courtyard-style home features a great room with a barn-wood wall and corner fireplace, a studio with a wood-burning stove, an office, four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a laundry room and an office. The 600-square-foot master suite has a custom walk-in closet and heated bathroom floors.

A heated saltwater pool, a spa, a rooftop deck above the four-car garage and solar panels are among other amenities. Meditation space and a sundeck extend the living space outdoors. The grounds are landscaped with native plants.

Burdon, 74, was named by Rolling Stone as one of the 100 greatest singers of all time and is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Even if your musical memory doesn’t extend back five decades, you may still be familiar with some of the songs he popularized such as “House of the Rising Sun,” “Spill the Wine” and the classic “See See Rider.”

The Animals lead singer listed the property a couple of years back for $999,000; he bought the place in 2007 for $640,000, public records show.
