One teen was killed and two were injured in a shooting Tuesday afternoon near a Los Angeles high school, police said.

The shooting was reported about 3:15 p.m. in the 1500 block of Lakme Avenue in Wilmington, according to LAPD Officer Sal Ramirez.

The attack occurred near Banning High School, but its unclear whether the victims — all teenagers — were connected to the school.

The gunman stepped out a gray vehicle before firing multiple rounds at the three teens, LAPD Officer Tony Im said.

Police initially reported that the three victims were wounded but alive. Im later confirmed that one of the teens had died in the hospital, but no further details were released.

The two others were undergoing medical treatment and expected to survive, Im said.

The gunman was seen running west on Pacific Coast Highway toward Avalon Boulevard, Ramirez said.

The shooter remained at large as police canvassed the area for witnesses, Ramirez said.

It’s unclear what motivated the shooting.
