Reader Photo: A cloudy cushion for Mt. Baldy

Share

Every day after work, My Le drives up Mount Baldy to catch the sunset.

Now that the weather is getting colder, the mountain is starting to see more fog and clouds.

“On some days the fog is really thick, but if you just wait it out, the wind will move the fog away and you’ll get a nice little opening,” Le said. “You can see through it to the mountains.”

One day last week, the Pomona resident watched the fog roll in again. But this time, it reminded him of something. With the dark mountains sandwiching the pillowy clouds, Le was reminded of an Oreo cookie.

He stopped his car on a turnout and waited for the cloud to drift to just the right spot. He used a Canon 7d Mark ii with a Tamron 17-50 mm f2.8 lens to make the image.

Le said he uses photography to show people “the wonderful outside world.”

“People are so consumed with their smartphones and computers, they miss the cool stuff that’s out there,” he said. “I just want to inspire people to go out there and explore. It’s a big world out there, and most people don’t get to see it.”
