Los Angeles Times Media Group Takes New Approach to Sunday Magazine Business

LOS ANGELES, July 28, 2008 – The Los Angeles Times Media Group announced today that it will begin publishing LA on September 7th, a monthly Sunday magazine, with Annie Gilbar named as editor-in-chief. Signaling a serious intent to competitively engage in the Southern California marketplace, LA’s look and attitude will celebrate the unique nuances of life in Los Angeles.

Former editor-in-chief of LAStyle magazine, one of the founding editors of InStyle magazine and former editor-in-chief of Live! Magazine, Annie Gilbar has also co-authored 18 books. In addition, she served as executive vice-president and editor-in-chief of WeddingChannel.com and president of MyTime.com, as well as spent three years co-producing and co-starring in her own “Annie’s Eye” hit television series on Home Shopping Network.

Gilbar has assembled a stellar staff of award-winning magazine veterans including Creative Director Rip Georges, Deputy Editor Nancie Clare, Senior Editors Tessa Benson and Jod Kaftan, Editor-at-Large Robin Sayers, Design and Culture Editor Mayer Rus, Food and Wine Editor Lora Zarubin, Fashion Director Lori Goldstein, Managing Editor Helene Goldsen, and Director of Manufacturing and Production Marc Barrington. LA will be distributed only within the Sunday Los Angeles Times and is a stand-alone editorial operation.
