Colorado Rockies sever ties with Jose Reyes
The Colorado Rockies reinstated shortstop Jose Reyes from the restricted list and designated him for assignment.
The Rockies have 10 days to release him or trade him, or Reyes will have to accept a demotion to the minor leagues.
Reyes, 33, completed a 59-day suspension for violating Major League Baseball’s domestic violence policy. He was suspended through May 31 after being charged with domestic violence for an altercation with his wife in Hawaii in October. Prosecutors dropped the charge, saying Reyes’ wife was not cooperating.
Reyes was hitting .333 in nine triple-A games.
Reyes is owed just over $12 million of his $22-million salary this year and is guaranteed $22 million for 2017.
Royals designate Infante
The Kansas City Royals designated infielder Omar Infante, 34, for assignment.
Infante was hitting .239 with 11 RBIs.
