Detroit Pistons surprise Cavaliers in Cleveland, 103-80

Brandon Jennings scored 25 points and the Detroit Pistons used an 18-0 run in the second quarter to roll past the host Cleveland Cavaliers, 103-80, on Sunday.

It was Cleveland’s second blowout loss at home in less than two weeks. The Cavaliers lost, 127-98, to Atlanta on Dec. 17, and the convincing victory for Detroit drew boos from the home crowd.

Andre Drummond had 16 points and 17 rebounds for the Pistons (7-23), who were coming off a 119-109 victory over Indiana on Friday. Reserve Jodie Meeks scored 14 points, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had 13.

Detroit set a season high by making 17 of 31 three-point shots.

Kevin Love had 20 points and 10 rebounds for Cleveland, and LeBron James finished with 17 points, 10 boards and seven assists.

Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving missed his second straight game because of a bruised left knee.

The Pistons have won both of their games since releasing veteran forward Josh Smith last week.

at San Antonio 110, Houston 106: Danny Green had 24 points and the injury-depleted Spurs held off a late rally, snapping a six-game skid against their intrastate rivals.

Tim Duncan had 16 points and Manu Ginobili had 15 for San Antonio, which won for the first time in three games.

James Harden had 28 points and Dwight Howard added 24 points and 17 rebounds for Houston (21-8).

Green made four straight free throws in the final minute, helping San Antonio avoid going into overtime for the fourth time in its last six home games.

With Tony Parker and Kawhi Leonard out, the Spurs turned to Duncan early and late.

at Dallas 112, Oklahoma City 107: Dirk Nowitzki matched his season high with 30 points, and Chandler Parsons added 26 for the Mavericks, who rallied from seven points down to start the fourth quarter. They were without center Tyson Chandler, a late scratch with back spasms.

The Thunder played its sixth straight game without Kevin Durant because of a sprained right ankle.

Serge Ibaka led Oklahoma City with a season-high 26 points.

Nowitzki made his first start at center in almost five years, according to STATS.

The Mavericks opened the fourth with an 11-2 run capped by consecutive baskets from Charlie Villanueva, the latter a three-pointer from the left corner.

at Portland 101, New York 79: Wesley Matthews had 28 points, including six three-pointers, helping the Trail Blazers inflict the Knicks’ eighth straight loss. Portland has won eight of its last nine.

Matthews, who leads the NBA with 106 three-pointers this season, made five of them in the first half. Teammate Nicolas Batum had five three-pointers and 17 points.

The Knicks had just nine available players to start the game, then lost Carmelo Anthony for the second half because of a sore left knee.

The Blazers were without All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge, who has missed three of the last four games with an upper respiratory illness.

Toronto 116, at Denver 102: Kyle Lowry had 30 points and 11 assists for the Raptors, who’ve won seven of eight. Lou Williams had 31 points for Toronto.

Ty Lawson led Denver with 28 points and Wilson Chandler had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Kenneth Faried had 17 points and 19 rebounds for the Nuggets, who have lost three of four.
