Baseball: JSerra defeats Mater Dei in Trinity League game

Brady Shockey and Matt Manskar each contributed three hits to lead JSerra past Mater Dei, 7-2, on Monday night in the opening game of a three-game Trinity League series.

Colin Townsend struck out five and gave up four hits in six innings. Collin Quinn came on in the seventh with the bases loaded and got out of the jam.

El Toro 7, Trabuco Hills 0: Bradley Spooner threw a five-hit shutout, striking out six. Carson Negrete had two doubles.

Tesoro 8, San Clemente 5: Jack Sahargen had three hits for Tesoro.

Bellflower 9, Downey 1: Joseph Brazil got the pitching win and Aaron Orozco collected two hits.

Bishop Amat 2, St. Paul 1: Diego Barrera struck out five in six innings. Isaac Esqueda, Nick DiFiori and Ulrick Sanglay each had two hits. Nick Redick had three hits for St. Paul.

San Juan Hills 5, Capistrano Valley 3: San Juan Hills scored five runs in the seventh to get the victory. Kevin Hwang had a three-run home run for Capistrano Valley.

North Hollywood 5, Arleta 3: Ryan Ruiz hit a home run for the third straight game and Leo Ortega threw a complete game for the Huskies.

Temescal Canyon 7, Perris 5: Tyler Pritchard had three RBIs and a pair of doubles and Dylan Alhanati had three hits and two RBIs.
