Baseball: Capistrano Valley gets victory No. 700 for Coach Bob Zamora

It took 10 innings on Monday, but Capistrano Valley High finally got to celebrate victory No. 700 in the illustrious coaching career of Bob Zamora.

Zak Herbers scored the winning run in the bottom of the 10th on an error to give Capistrano Valley a 3-2 win over Trabuco Hills.

Zamora, in his 39th season, has guided Capistrano Valley to six Southern Section championships, 17 league titles and 700 wins.

Capistrano Valley used seven pitchers on the day. Kevin Hwang, Connor Martin, Riley Kasper and Herbers each had two hits.

Glendora 5, San Marino 2: Chase Kerr, Christian Heflin and Wyatt Regis each had two hits for Glendora.

El Toro 3, San Clemente 2: A passed ball in the bottom of the eighth inning enabled El Toro to pull out the victory. Bradley Spooner struck out six in a complete-game performance. Matt Kincade had two hits for El Toro.

Mira Costa 19, Morningside 0: Andrew Arteaga had four RBIs and Will Proctor hit a two-run home run.

Sun Valley Poly 7, Arleta 6: In his first start since returning from a broken hand, left-hander Danny Pimienta struck out seven and allowed one hit. Sebastian Casares went two for two with two RBIs.

North Hollywood 2, Chavez 1: Brandon Sorto threw a complete game, allowing two hits while striking out four.

Kennedy 21, Van Nuys 2: The Golden Cougars won the Valley Mission League game.

Aliso Niguel 7, San Juan Hills 3: Zak Nocon threw five innings to pick up the win. Blake Sabol and Connor Kokx had RBI singles.

St. John Bosco 5, Oak Hill 2: Johnny Kuhn got the pitching victory and Alfonso Alvarez picked up the save.

Baldwin Park 10, Workman 0: Christian Jauregui threw a three-hit shutout.

Laguna Hills 3, Tesoro 2: Nick Hegedius and Jack Besner each had two hits for Laguna Hills.

Roosevelt 10, Marquez 2: Jose Castillo had three hits and three RBIs.
