Boys’ basketball: Tesoro eliminates No. 1 Thousand Oaks in 2AA

The big upset on Friday night in Southern Section basketball was Tesoro knocking off No. 1-seeded Thousand Oaks, 67-62, in a 2AA quarterfinal.

Adrease Jackson scored 29 points and Nick Pallas had 15 points, 16 rebounds and eight assists. Tesoro will play at Anaheim Canyon. Lawndale advanced to the other semifinal against Elsinore with a 67-59 win over Mira Costa. D’lano Beckles scored 24 points and Chimezie Metu added 16 points and eight rebounds.

In 1A, top-seeded Loyola rolled to a 93-78 win over Walnut. Max Hazzard scored 29 points and Stone Gettings added 22. The Cubs will play at Edison in the semifinals. Peninsula defeated Westlake, 68-60. Kurt Milch scored 22 points.

In 1AA, Bennie Boatwright scored 22 points in Village Christian’s 56-45 win over Calabasas. Los Alamitos defeated Santa Margarita, 69-65, and will play No. 1-seeded Great Oak. Kaden Rasheed scored 23 points for Santa Margarita.

In 4AA, Crespi advanced to the final with a 63-52 win over Oaks Christian. De’Anthony Melton scored 21 points. The Celts will play Mission Prep, a 77-75 win over Chaminade. Jordan Ogundiran scored 41 points for Chaminade. Quinton Adlesh had 22 points for Mission Prep, including 11 free throws.

In 4A, Maranatha will play Campbell Hall in the final. Tyler Dorsey scored 22 points in Maranatha’s 67-55 win over Valley Christian. Aaron Holiday scored 32 points in Campbell Hall’s 69-51 win over Buckley.

In 5AA, Christian Juzang had 28 points in Viewpoint’s 66-63 win over Brentwood. Viewpoint will play Gold Coast League rival Windward in the final. Windward defeated St. Joseph, 70-48. Eli Silverman-Lloyd and Jalen Harris each had 16 points.

In 5A, St. Bernard upset No. 1 Bell-Jeff, 67-52.
