Fitzgerald Whitney took this image from the roof of The Times-Mirror Annex building — now known as The Times South building.

To the right of the Times building is a Security First National Bank branch. The entire block -- in photo below - is now the site of the Los Angeles Police Department headquarters.

The Times Mirror Annex building originally housed the afternoon Los Angeles Mirror newspaper, which closed in 1962.
