Earthquake: 3.7 quake strikes near Piru, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.7 earthquake was reported Sunday evening seven miles from Piru, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 9:18 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 8.7 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was eight miles from Castaic and 16 miles from Santa Clarita.

In the last 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
