Detectives investigate man’s death outside auto body shop

Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man who was found early Wednesday outside an auto parts store near El Monte.

The man, whose identity hasn’t been released, was discovered about 5:50 a.m. in the 13900 block of Valley Boulevard in Avocado Heights, an unincorporated community southeast of El Monte, according to Deputy Quiana Birkbeck of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man’s death marks the seventh homicide in the Avocado Heights neighborhood since 2007, according to The Times Homicide Report. The last homicide was reported in 2011.

At least four of the homicide victims were shot.
