A brush fire in northeastern San Diego County has burned 217 acres and destroyed two homes and an out-building, CalFire said Friday.
The Banner fire, which broke out Thursday morning east of Julian, is now 40% contained, CalFire said, and is being battled by 331 firefighters, backed by six air tankers and four helicopters.
No injuries have been reported.
Evacuation orders for the Kentwood and Whispering Palms areas were lifted Thursday night.
The fire began in the Banner Grade area between Julian and the Anza-Borrego Desert. State Route 78 is closed in the area.
