Redondo Beach doctor accused of selling drugs to undercover officers
A Redondo Beach doctor and his assistant were scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday on charges of selling narcotics to undercover police, the L.A. County district attorney’s office said.
Dr. Gerard Geoffrey Goryl, 58, and his office assistant, Wilfred Arvizo Jr., 66, working out of A Better Weigh medical clinic, allegedly sold hydrocodone and Xanax to undercover officers in April and May without any medical examination, prosecutors said.
Goryl faces nine felony counts, including selling a controlled substance, and could spend more than 11 years in custody if convicted.
Arvizo faces six counts and up to nine years in custody if convicted.
