Earthquake: 3.5 quake strikes near Borrego Springs, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.5 earthquake was reported Saturday morning six miles from Borrego Springs, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 7:39 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 7.5 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 23 miles from San Diego Country Estates, Calif., 27 miles from Ramona, Calif., and 29 miles from Alpine, Calif.

In the past 10 days, there have been two earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
