O.C. jail escapee arrested in San Diego County
The taste of freedom lasted less than 24 hours Saturday for an inmate who escaped from an Irvine detention center.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department said 27-year-old Max Edward Fernandez was re-arrested shortly before 2 p.m. outside a fast-food restaurant in San Diego County.
Fernandez was serving a sentence for possessing stolen property and a narcotics violation at the James A. Musick Facility in Irvine when he disappeared about 4 p.m. Friday, officials said.
His previous criminal record included burglary, theft, a narcotics violation, auto theft and resisting arrest, according to officials.
