With the Los Angeles Kings’ win in the Stanley Cup Final, L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti is ready to collect on his bet with New York Mayor Bill de Blasio.

“Our Kings of the ice were once considered underdogs,” Garcetti said Friday night. “But with two Stanley Cup wins in three years, they have proved they are Kings of the game.”

The Kings won the NHL title Friday night after a tense Game 5 against the New York Rangers that went into double overtime and lasted more than four hours.

The mayors had bet that if the Rangers won, Garcetti would sing Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York,” on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

But instead, it looks as if de Blasio will soon be singing Randy Newman’s “I Love L.A.”

Garcetti said Friday that both mayors would appear on an upcoming episode of the show so he can collect on his winnings.
