Turn in your gun, no questions asked, for groceries or gifts Saturday at the Los Angeles gun buyback event that’s just in time for Christmas.

Owners of assault weapons are in particular luck. Hand over your semiautomatic firearm to get a $400 gift card for Food 4 Less or Target. And it’s completely anonymous, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department assures in capital letters.

Even that nonworking weapon could become a holiday sweater for Grandma.

Here are the going rates:

Assault weapon -- $400

Handgun -- $100

Inoperable weapon -- $50

But empty out the gun cabinet and arrive early because it’s only while supplies last.

The event, organized by county Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas and the sheriff’s department, is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Food 4 Less at 11407 S. Western Ave.
