Authorities lifted a school lockdown at Los Angeles Valley College in Valley Glen on Monday afternoon after investigating a threat of a man possibly armed with a gun.

Officials with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said they will continue to look into the identity of the man who called in the threat.

The report prompted a lockdown of the campus in the 5800 block of Fulton Avenue as authorities investigated the claim, said Officer Drake Madison of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Nearby Grant High School was also placed on lockdown, authorities said.

“It is merely a threat,” he said.

The school was holding final examinations Monday morning, according to the campus’ website.

Classes were canceled for the day. Campus officials asked students to contact their instructors about rescheduling their finals. The lockdown was lifted at 2:07 p.m.
