A 43-year-old Oceanside man was sentenced Monday to 116 years in prison for repeatedly molesting the daughter of a Marine, including while the Marine was deployed twice to Iraq and then to Afghanistan.

Daniel Hood was convicted of 18 felony counts. He was arrested after relatives found that he had videotaped some of the molestation, apparently as part of a plan to produce child pornography, prosecutors said.

“This defendant robbed his young victim of her childhood,” said San Diego County Dist. Atty. Bonnie Dumanis.

Hood was living with the girl and her mother in Oceanside and Temecula. The molestation took place for five years, starting when the girl was 4 years old, prosecutors said.

San Diego County Superior Court Judge Blaine Bowman in Vista handed down the sentence after the victim’s parents testified tearfully about the damage done to their daughter, now 11.
