Police in Rancho Cucamonga are investigating a crash between a motorcycle and a big rig that killed a 4-year-old girl Tuesday.

Breann Creer died after the motorcycle she was riding on smashed into a big rig making a U-turn in front of it on 6th Street west of Hermosa Avenue at about 11 a.m. The boyfriend of the girl’s mother had just picked Breann up from school when the accident occurred, KABC-TV Channel 7 reported.

Witnesses told reporters at the scene that the big rig continued on after the crash, dragging the motorcycle.

“I think he had no idea that he hit the motorcycle. We ran in front of the big rig. We stopped the big rig from going,” Cheri Slocumb told ABC. Slocumb works in the area and heard the collision, she said.

Breann was riding with Eric Henderson, who suffered moderate injuries in the crash.

On Tuesday, Breann’s father told KABC he did not blame Henderson for his daughter’s death.

“I don’t think he would do anything intentionally to put her in harm’s way at all,” Thomas Creer told KABC.

He went on to say Henderson treated Breann like a daughter. Creer said he was overcome with emotion.

“It comes in waves, like a wave of emotions, you know, I’ve never felt before in my life,” he told ABC. “Me being a Marine living the life I have lived and experienced, I never thought that I was going to be the one that would have to bury my daughter. It’s supposed to be the other way around.”

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
