Share

A pedestrian was killed Monday morning after being struck by a Metro train near Avenue 61 in Highland Park, officials said.

It was unclear why the pedestrian was struck. But authorities said service on the Metro Gold Line was disrupted and would be delayed as investigators tried to determine what happened.

No one on board the train was injured when it collided with the pedestrian about 11:13 a.m. in the 100 block of North Avenue 61, said Brian Humphrey, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman.

The pedestrian died at the scene, he said.

Metro officials say bus shuttles will pick up passengers waiting between South Pasadena and the Southwest Museum station in Mount Washington.
