Share

A piano teacher was arrested Friday for allegedly taking lewd photographs of a girl at his home, where he gave lessons, authorities said.

The Lake Forest man, 58-year-old John Mordecai Scott, worked out of his home in the 20700 block of El Toro Road, where he was arrested on suspicion of committing lewd acts with a child. The charges indicate the victim was under 14 years old, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Since his arrest, investigators have found information leading to a second possible victim. Both were Scott’s piano students, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Based on other “lewd and inappropriate” photos obtained from Scott’s computer, investigators believe there still may be additional victims in south Orange County, said Lt. Jeff Hallock, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department.

Scott also teaches at Coast Band Music in Mission Viejo and at O.C. Music in Rancho Santa Margarita. Hallock said victims may be students from any of Scott’s three work locations.

Scott is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.

Anyone with information regarding additional possible victims is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Department at (714) 647-7418 or (714) 647-7000.
