Rosemead stabbing victim expected to survive, attacker dead
A Rosemead woman who was stabbed Friday by her nephew, who was then killed by a sheriff’s deputy, is expected to survive, officials said.
The incident began when deputies responded to a disturbance call in the 2400 block of Earle Avenue about 6:40 p.m. Friday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The deputies heard a woman yelling before she emerged from the back of the residence walking toward them with a stab wound in her neck, according to a department statement. A man appeared from the rear of the driveway and tried to stab the woman again before a deputy opened fire, according to the news release.
The suspect died at the scene after a single bullet struck him in the torso, authorities said. The woman was taken to the hospital where she is listed in serious condition.
Deputies recovered the knife used in the stabbing as they continue to investigate the incident. Neither the victim’s nor the suspect’s name was released.
