An officer-involved shooting outside a nightclub at Universal CityWalk early Monday left one person dead and two others injured, authorities said.

No officers were hurt during the shooting, which occurred about 1:15 a.m. outside the Infusion Lounge as police responded to a disturbance call, said Los Angeles Police Officer Drake Madison.

One person who suffered a gunshot wound died, said supervising Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher Miguel Ornelas. It was not immediately clear if the person, whose identity was not immediately released, died at the scene or at the hospital, he said.

Two other people were also taken to local hospitals but their condition was not immediately known.

At least two shots were fired, according to cellphone video images obtained by KTLA.

The person who shot the video described the chaotic scene during a battle of disc jockeys at the club.

“It got out of hand, and then you see everyone fighting. ... I don’t know, that’s crazy,” the witness, who declined to be identified, told KTLA. “I don’t know how this could happen at CityWalk, a place where family ... I mean, come on.”

Monday’s incident marks the first homicide in Universal City since at least 2007, when The Times began tracking every killing in the county.

In the past 12 months, 45 other people have been shot and killed by law enforcement authorities in Los Angeles County, according to coroner’s data collected by The Homicide Report.
