A woman was killed and a man hurt after they were run over by a driver outside a post office in Mar Vista, fire officials said.
The woman, said to be in her 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene, L.A. Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said. The man suffered a leg injury and was taken to an area hospital.
The incident occurred about 10 a.m. The driver had placed her SUV in reverse and was backing up when she struck the pair in the post office parking lot in the 3800 block of Grand View Boulevard, fire and police officials said.
The driver, who was not injured, remained at the scene and was not arrested.
