Meshach Taylor, screen and TV star, dies at 67

Movie and Emmy-nominated actor Meshach Taylor, best known for his roles in “Mannequin” and “Designing Women,” died Saturday night, his family has told the Los Angeles Times. He was 67.

Taylor was in hospice care at his family’s home in Altadena, surrounded by family when he died at 10:47 p.m., his son, Tariq Taylor told The Times.

The Emmy-nominated actor played Anthony Bouvier, assistant at the fictitious Sugarbaker interior design firm in Atlanta on “Designing Women,” and flamboyant window dresser Hollywood Montrose in the 1987 hit “Mannequin.”

During his career, Taylor had roles in numerous other movies and TV shows, including “Dave’s World,” “In the Heat of the Night,” “The Incredible Hulk” and “ALF.”
