When her boyfriend attempted to go to her aid, several men confronted him, said L.A. County Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Whitmore.

The altercation spilled outside, where the deputy shot one of the suspects in the chest. The victim was in stable condition, authorities said.

The deputy, who was not identified, did not suffer serious injuries.

Three suspects are in custody, Whitmore said.

He said the shooting will be investigated by the Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles Police Department.
