Interim City Manager Could Get 34% Pay Raise
Interim City Manager Candis Hong, whose first council meeting in her new role is tonight, is due for a fatter paycheck along with her increased job duties.
The finance director was tapped in February for the top administrative post while a citizens committee searches for a permanent replacement. The City Council proposed a 5% pay raise, as is city custom, during the temporary assignment.
But another city policy, giving supervisors at least 10% more than their highest-paid subordinate, has the council set to vote tonight to make Hong’s monthly salary $13,996, a 34.2% hike.
