Letters: A reader’s many missives

Share

Re “With age, wisdom,” Mailbag, Jan. 26

Many thanks to ardent Times reader and letter writer Carleton Ralston for his exemplary contributions over the last two decades. Ralston, who turned 100 last week, has surely inspired countless others to participate in the uniquely stimulating forum provided by The Times’ letters page. Like many other readers, I usually turn straight to the letters page upon opening my daily paper.

It’s through the loyalty of longtime readers such as Ralston that The Times has remained a world-class newspaper while print journalism has declined most everywhere else.
