This view of Tropical Storm Isaac was taken early Tuesday by NASA’s Suomi-NPP satellite. Researchers used the satellite’s Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite, which detects light in a range of wavelengths from green to near-infrared and uses light intensification for the amplification of weak signals. Isaac’s clouds were illuminated by reflected moonlight. City lights can be seen through some areas of the storm.
