Readers React: Money and ‘modern’ families
Katie Libbe of insurance company Allianz, which conducted the survey on the financial stability of families, may be an expert on consumer insights, but she is a questionable source for quotes. (“‘Modern’ families struggle more financially than conventional ones, study says,” Business, May 21)
Her statement that “new family structures have a direct impact on a family’s relationship with money and finances” is silly, isn’t it? Don’t all family structures have a “direct impact” on a family’s finances?
And what is the difference between “nearly half of so-called modern families” living paycheck to paycheck and 41% of conventional households? Forty-one percent to what, 48% or 49%? Smoke and mirrors.
What was the purpose of this study?
