Toys “R” Us in Huntington Beach hosted a World Wish Day event Friday in which Nico, a Huntington Beach native celebrating his eighth birthday recently, was treated to a birthday party and the news that his wish would be granted. He arrived by limousine, greeted by dozens of friends, family members and Toys “R” Us employees.

Make-A-Wish declined to disclose Nico’s last name, citing privacy concerns.

World Wish Day is an annual celebration of the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s founding and the more than 270,000 wishes it has granted since 1980 to children with life-threatening medical conditions.
