A Huntington Beach woman was arrested Sunday afternoon after wielding a knife and barricading herself in a downtown restaurant, police said.

Ashleigh Pearce, 31, was arrested on suspicion of brandishing a deadly weapon, violating parole and resisting arrest, said Huntington Beach police Lt. John Cottriel.

Officers responded to 9th Street and Pacific Coast Highway after receiving a call at 12:17 p.m. regarding a woman walking in the area and allegedly waving a knife.

Officers found a woman, who appeared to be on drugs, on a nearby beach service road, where she brandished the knife as police attempted to make contact, Cottriel said.

She then took off running and eventually made her way into Johnny Rockets on 5th Street. Once there, she barricaded herself and did not cooperate with police, Cottriel said.

The restaurant was evacuated before a SWAT team entered the restaurant around 4:20 p.m. and found Pearce hiding under a table, police said.

No one was injured in the incident.
