Get your motor runnin’ and early at that.

The Dodgers’ first two playoff games at home against the Mets figure to be a challenge for those hoping to be in Dodger Stadium for first pitch, even for veterans of Los Angeles traffic.

Friday’s National League Division Series opener is scheduled to start at 6:45 p.m. Any Friday in downtown L.A. is always going to be serious trouble. Plus, the Kings are playing down the 110 Freeway and scheduled to start 45 minutes later.

Saturday could prove even more daunting. Game 2 is scheduled to start at 6:07 p.m., which just happens to be the same approximate time a crowd of more than 90,000 is expected at the Rose Bowl for a soccer game between the U.S. and Mexico national teams.

Dodgers are urging fans to arrive early to avoid as much rush hour traffic as possible and ease congestion. The Dodger Stadium Express, free from Union Station to everyone with a game ticket, will also run during the postseason. It starts service at 4:15 p.m. Friday and 3:37 p.m. on Saturday. The Dodger Stadium Express will also run from the South Bay from the Harbor Gateway Transit Center in Gardena.

Parking gates are scheduled to open Friday at 3:45 p.m., with the stadium gates opening at 4:15 p.m. Times are 30 minutes earlier for Saturday’s Game 2. Advanced stadium parking can be purchased for $15; it is $25 at the gate.
