Scott Boras on Hyun-Jin Ryu, Dodgers management and season tickets

Hyun-Jin Ryu should be able to pitch at the level he did before he underwent surgery to repair the labrum in his left shoulder, his agent said Wednesday at baseball’s general manager meetings.

“We’ve heard nothing from physicians other than that he should return to normal play,” Scott Boras said.

Andrew Friedman, the Dodgers’ president of baseball operations, has described Ryu as a “wild card.”

As Friedman did earlier this week, Boras offered an optimistic-sounding update on Ryu’s recovery.

“He’s doing great,” Boras said. “He’s playing long toss at 90 feet. Should be ready to go for spring training.”

A Dodgers season-ticket holder, Boras was asked what he thought of the organizational makeover that has taken place over the last year.

“I think the ownership is people who are really, really committed to winning,” Boras said. “They’re really a breath of fresh air around Dodger Stadium.”

Boras joked about the efforts the Dodgers have made to build up their front office.

“As I said, the owners are spending a lot of money on human capital in their executive offices,” he said. “I just want to make sure that they make sure that those seats are pointed towards those players and that’s kind who we want to watch. They’re not pointed towards all of us who sit in the stands.”

Boras joked again when asked if the prices of his season tickets increased this year.

“I don’t know,” he said with a laugh. “Maybe it’s just me, but it’s funny, I think my ticket prices go up every year.”
