They played a little pinball baseball in the Alamodome on Friday night, the Dodgers apparently happy to oblige. Wizards, they were.

The Dodgers hit five home runs -- three in the first inning on the way to eight runs -- and ultimately an 11-6, split-squad victory over the Rangers in San Antonio.

Not exactly designed for baseball, the Alamodome is only 280 feet down the right-field line, 305 to left and 370 to center. Some balls were hit off a hanging scoreboard. Worked for the Dodgers.

They pounded out 14 hits, starting with seven in the first inning. Yasiel Puig and minor league outfielder Matt Carson each hit a three-run homer, and Joc Pederson added a two-run shot. Pederson had three hits on the night to raise his spring average to .471.

Enrique Hernandez added a solo homer in the third and Justin Turner a solo shot in the fifth.

The Dodgers had their struggles pitching, too. With Hyun-Jin Ryu likely to miss the start of the season with a sore shoulder, a couple of candidates to replace him in the rotation struggled.

Erik Bedard started and went one inning, giving up two runs on three hits and a pair of walks. Joe Wieland, who had not surrendered a run in his first three spring appearances, gave up a run on three hits and two walks in his three innings.

A couple looking for a berth in the bullpen fared much better. Left-handers Paco Rodriguez and Daniel Coulombe kept their spring records perfect, each throwing a perfect inning with one strikeout.

The Dodgers will complete the two-game series against the Rangers in San Antonio on Saturday.
