KEY MOMENT: The Dodgers blew open the game with a five-run fifth inning that expanded their lead from 1-0 to 6-0. Pitcher Zack Greinke led off the inning with a single and scored on a triple by Dee Gordon, who, in turn, scored on a triple by Yasiel Puig. Adrian Gonzalez knocked in Puig with a single to right field, which was followed by a hit by Hanley Ramirez. Gonzalez and Ramirez both scored on a triple by Matt Kemp.

AT THE PLATE: Puig’s three triples tied a franchise record set by Jerry Sheckard in 1901. With Gordon and Kemp also hitting triples, the Dodgers tied a franchise record with five triples. The only other times the Dodgers had as many triples in a game were on Aug. 23, 1902, against the Pittsburgh Pirates and July 7, 1921, against the New York Giants. Puig, Kemp and Gonzalez each drove in two runs.

ON THE MOUND: Greinke snapped a two-start losing streak, as he limited the Giants to four hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings. He struck out 10 batters, including four in the third inning, when Hunter Pence struck out and reached base on a wild pitch.

ROTATION SHUFFLE: Dan Haren’s next turn in the rotation will be skipped, Manager Don Mattingly said. Because the Dodgers have a day off Monday, they will need only four starters their next time through the rotation.

MEDICAL REPORT: Shortstop Erisbel Arruebarrena has started a minor league rehabilitation assignment with triple-A Albuquerque. Arruebarrena was placed on the disabled list July 5 because of a right hip flexor strain.

UP NEXT: Clayton Kershaw (11-2, 1.92 earned-run average) will face the Giants and Ryan Vogelsong (5-7, 3.99) at AT&T Park on Saturday at 6 p.m. On the air: SportsNet LA. Radio: 570, 1020 (Spanish).
