ON THE MOUND: Joe Wieland did enough to still be considered a candidate to replace the sidelined Hyun-Jin Ryu in the rotation, as he limited the White Sox to two runs and nine hits in five innings. Wieland didn't walk any batters. Bullpen candidates David Aardsma, Juan Nicasio, Yimi Garcia and Sergio Santos each pitched a scoreless inning. Garcia struck out the side.

The slumping outfielder, who began the game with a .095 average, hit a home run in the fifth inning. Yasmani Grandal had a double. Jimmy Rollins, Yasiel Puig, Alex Guerrero and Justin Turner each collected a hit. Puig stole his first base of the spring.
