The All-Star Game rosters will be announced July 6. The Dodgers open a series in San Francisco July 5, meaning Giants Manager Bruce Bochy will get one final look at Yasiel Puig before the All-Star rosters are unveiled.

Bochy, the manager of the National League All-Star squad, said Wednesday he still believes Puig has not played long enough to merit a spot on the team.

“He’s a very talented kid,” Bochy said. “He’s done a great job.

“Generally, guys that go to the All-Star Game are guys that have a great first half, not a great three weeks. If you ask me a week from now, I may say I’ve changed my mind.”

Bochy, in consultation with the league office, makes the final few selections for the NL roster.

Puig hit .442 for the first 22 days of his major league career, breaking the record of .422 set by Terry Pendleton of the 1984 St. Louis Cardinals, according to Stats LLC. Next on that list: Hall of Famer Willie McCovey, who hit .418 in his first 22 days for the 1959 Giants.

Puig has seven home runs and 14 runs batted in.

Dodgers Manager Don Mattingly and two of Puig’s teammates have echoed the same concern as Bochy.

“What he’s done is unheard of,” Adrian Gonzalez said. “Nobody else has really done it. But if you look up at the scoreboard at the All-Star game and he’s got 15 or 20 RBIs, it’s going to look a bit off.”
