Diamondbacks owner on Dodgers: ‘We owe those guys’

Turns out that a few weeks away from the pool have not dried the tears of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

First, the Diamondbacks whined about how the Dodgers celebrated the National League West championship by jumping into the pool at Chase Field. Then their general manager took offense to the Dodgers’ banana-fueled enjoyment of Juan Uribe’s amazing feats.

The Dodgers and Diamondbacks open next season in Australia, perhaps with a Great Rumble Down Under. The teams had one epic fight last season, and maybe the Diamondbacks privately wish for payback.

Or, not so privately.

Here is Ken Kendrick, the Diamondbacks’ managing general partner, talking to his team’s website about the heightened rivalry with the Dodgers:

“We owe those guys,” Kendrick said. “I think to get the opportunity to begin the payback for them winning the division the very first day of the season is a great opportunity for us.”

The Diamondbacks finished last season at .500, for the second consecutive year. That seems to leave enough opportunity on its own.
