Baseball: Sophomores JT Schwartz, Grant Burton make college commitments
College baseball recruiters are landing young players in Southern California. The latest two sophomores to make commitments are shortstop JT Schwartz from Corona del Mar and outfielder Grant Burton from Santa Ana Mater Dei.
Schwartz committed to UCLA. Burton committed to Stanford.
Schwartz batted .380 while leading Corona del Mar in hits and RBIs as a freshman.
Burton batted .305. He had three hits in the Monarchs’ Division 1 playoff loss to Harvard-Westlake as a freshman.
Vista Murrieta senior pitcher Chance Hroch committed to New Mexico State.
Newport Harbor senior pitcher Cameron Jabara committed to Oregon.
Shortstop Kai Gomez, a recent San Fernando graduate, decided he will attend Baylor. The Riverside Press Enterprise reported that juniors Dylan Orick, an outfielder from King, and Riverside Poly infielder Nathan Webb have committed to UC Riverside.
