Boys’ basketball: Sophomore Shacquille Dawkins comes through for Alemany

Sophomore guard Shacquille Dawkins made 13 of 13 free throws and finished with 35 points to help Alemany knock off Calabasas, 95-87, in overtime on Friday night in a semifinal game of the Ventura County Classic. He also had seven assists.

Brandon Boyd tied the game as time expired in regulation and had 20 points. Connor Longmire led Calabasas with 29 points. Jeremy Lieberman had 21. The Warriors will face Sierra Canyon in the championship game at Moorpark at 8 p.m. on Saturday. Sierra Canyon defeated Valencia, 59-50. Devearl Ramsey had 17 points and Cody Riley 16. Mark McGowan led Valencia with 27 points.

In a consolation game, Westlake defeated Sylmar, 82-77, in overtime. Isaiah Brooks made a shot in regulation to tie the game. Jeremiah Gray had 25 points.

In the championship game of the Crescenta Valley tournament, Lewis Stallworth scored 31 points and was named tournament MVP to help Hart (7-1) defeat the Falcons, 79-62.

In the Beverly Hills tournament, Gardena Serra advanced to the 7:30 p.m. championship game with a 61-58 win over Beverly Hills. Lafayette Dorsey had 16 points and made a key three-pointer with 33 seconds left. Jason Richardson and Tavrion Dawson had 14 points apiece. Loyola (7-0) opened a 21-point lead after three quarters, then hung on for a 58-55 win over Cantwell-Sacred Heart. Thomas Welsh had 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Earlier, Chris Sandifer of Taft scored 51 points and made 11 three-pointers in an 89-62 win over Long Beach Cabrillo.

In the Arroyo Grande tournament, Matt Hauser scored 23 points in Thousand Oaks’ 64-30 win over Paso Robles.

In the Glendora tournament, Damien defeated Walnut, 66-60. Jeremy Hemsley scored 20 points and Malik Fitts 18. Damien will face Burbank in Saturday’s final.

In the El Camino Real tournament, Sage Woodruff scored 21 points as Fairfax defeated Reseda, 86-45. The Lions will play El Camino Real on Saturday at 5 p.m. El Camino Real defeated Sun Valley Poly, 76-42. Julian Richardson scored 14 points and Evan Wardlow and Kelton Conway had 14 points apiece.

In Arizona, Chaminade defeated San Diego Mater Dei, 55-47. Jack Williams contributed 24 pointrs and 12 rebounds.

In the University tournament semifinals, Harvard-Westlake defeated University, 72-64. Windward defeated Price, 64-62. Roman Davis had 19 points and 12 rebounds. They will meet Saturday at 4:45 p.m.

Trabuco Hills defeated Aliso Niguel, 59-48. Aaron Johnson made five threes and had 20 points. Sonora defeated Servite, 71-50. Village Christian held off West Ranch, 59-58. Marsalis Johnson scored 28 points. Ryne Williams scored 16 points for West Ranch. Village Christian survived even though Bennie Boatwright was ejected.

In the Coliseum League, Crenshaw defeated Fremont, 63-48. In the East Valley League, Grant defeated Arleta, 55-42. Udy Ivazov had 17 points, 22 rebounds and seven blocks.
