Bort Escoto, the always combative Sylmar coach, was not pleased with his No. 9 seeding in the City Section Division I playoffs. Now that his team has advanced to the semifinals, he’s even more vocal.

“If I win the Division I title, I want the seeding committee replaced because they got all the seeds wrong,” he said.

On Friday night, Sylmar eliminated the No. 1 seed, Palisades, 90-87, in overtime. Dayquann Williams scored 27 points and Tyler Hooks 25. Morgan Wadlow contributed a key 10 points in the second quarter, helping the Spartans rally from a 31-16 deficit.
